The ASC (Automotive Safety Centre) structure was initially opened in 1995 to give Quattroruote its own facility for the safe test driving of cars for reviews subsequently published in the magazine.

Over the years, the Centre has progressed to become one of Europe’s leading motoring centres, with new tracks and off-road trails plus a modern conference centre that is sympathetic to the existing architecture and picturesque Lombard countryside.

Some of the activities conducted at Vairano (Pavia) (e.g. vehicle instrument testing, automobile, 4WD and commercial-vehicle courses) fall within the ASC and Quattroruote tradition while others (e.g. ADAS efficiency testing, driver assistance systems) further automobile development and bring the future closer.

Events are organised at both Vairano and other locations, and the ASC works in partnership with the University of Pavia for its automotive-centred Master courses.
