The first edition came out in 1950 but it wasn't the first time the publisher of Gianni Mazzocchi entered the field of cookery. During the war, with Italy split in two, the editor had asked and obtained for print in the north "Il talismano della felicità", a famous book of recipes by Ada Boni. At the end of the war Mazzocchi asked for the rights to publish the book in the whole country but agreement was not reached over price. A short time after, the publisher printed a book of his own invention, the Cucchiaio d'Argento (the Silver Spoon).
Since then it was reached sales of over 1,000,000 copies. |
